Privacy policy
Nivaa Nest is a bedtime audio-story app for children, set up and managed by a parent or guardian ("you"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can. We do not show ads, we do not sell personal information, and we do not use third-party tracking or advertising tools.
Who we are
Nivaa Nest is provided by Nivaani Labs Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we", "us"). Contact: privacy@nivaa.ai.
Information we collect
From you, the grown-up
- Account details: your email address, and if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, the identifier and email address they share with us. If you use a password, it is stored only in hashed form.
- Child profiles you create: a first name or nickname, an age range (3–6 or 7–10), a story language, and a picture chosen from our set of cartoon animals. We do not ask for a child's photo, date of birth, or contact details.
Created when the app is used
- Listening activity: which stories each child profile has played, where they stopped, which are favorites, and how many times a story was played. We use this to resume stories and suggest the next one.
- Subscription status: whether your household has an active subscription and when it renews or ends. Payments are processed by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
- Invites: your household's invite code, and how many invited families joined and listened to a story. When someone opens an invite link, we record the type of phone and a one-way, salted fingerprint of their network address so we can credit the right invite without anyone typing a code. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into an address and is deleted within 7 days. Inviters see counts only, never who joined.
Stays on the phone
- Downloaded stories, sleep-timer and reminder settings, and which child is listening are stored on the device. The bedtime reminder is scheduled by the phone itself; we do not send push notifications.
Children's privacy
Nivaa Nest is used by children, but accounts are created and managed by parents and guardians. Children cannot create accounts, make purchases, send invites or change settings: those are behind a grown-up check. The only information about a child is what a grown-up enters in a child profile (listed above) and that child's listening activity. We use it only to provide the app, never for advertising, and we never share it with other users. In the United States we follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A parent can review, change or delete a child's profile at any time in the app, or ask us to by emailing privacy@nivaa.ai.
How we use information
- To provide the app: sign-in, playing and resuming stories, favorites, downloads and the right language for each child.
- To manage subscriptions, free stories and invite rewards.
- To send account emails you ask for, such as confirming your email or resetting a password.
- To keep the service secure and to fix problems.
We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell or rent it.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of it:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, child profiles, listening history and invite data; backups are overwritten within 30 days. See Delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- See, change or delete child profiles in the app at any time.
- Delete your whole account in the app, or by emailing us.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it: privacy@nivaa.ai.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU or UK, California, or India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have additional rights. We honor these requests for all users, wherever they live.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to each household's data is restricted to that household, and story audio is only reachable through short-lived links.
International transfers
Our main database is in India, and some providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. We use providers that protect data to the standards required by applicable law.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app or by email.
